I'm having issues with Outlook 2000 - it was working fine until late last week, when randomly it started freezing up whenever I close a maximised email message. It continues to work fine if I just open more and more messages but never close them. I've done "detect and repair" and got all of the updates from Office Online, but this hasn't helped. I've also tried using the preview pane instead of opening messages, but this just causes Outlook to freeze again. I got the "Outlook has encountered an error and has to close" dialogue box sometimes, but generally I just have to restart my computer. Can anyone help? This is so frustrating!

Go to the Add and Remove window and select the repair option. This option may not show up until you try to delete Outlook, but it's there. This is different from the "Detect and Repair" option in the Tools pop-down.

Look in the Task Manager to make sure Outlook is only opened once. You may want to open the MSCONFIG file under the “Startup” tab to see if any Office programming is listed. If there is then I suggest that you uncheck its box. You really don’t need any Office programming running until you ask it too. You can find the MSCONFIG file by typing “msconfig” in the RUN slot.
