Solved out of range screen

Specs: Windows XP
today i changed my desktop xp's screen resolution and got out of range screen.however i restored it back to normal through safe mode.but still it appears out of range and doesn't open normally.i even tried VGA mode.now including to this problem my desktop gets struck at "windows is shutting down" screen and doesn't close automatically.i even did virus scan to my desktop,no virus is found.

please please give me an answer that helps me.

It's difficult to help when you haven't supplied any specs or the make/model of either your PC or monitor. Look up the monitor specs & set the screen resolution to whatever the manufacturer lists as the native resolution, anything other than the native setting will look like crap. And you can't restore the setting from safe mode, you need to press F8, select Enable VGA Mode, boot into Windows in normal mode, then change the resolution to the native setting for your monitor.

If all else fails use System Restore to before you made this change.

You can also uninstall your graphics drivers and revert to the generic Windows drivers. Then re-install your graphic drivers and it should default to the native resolution of your monitor.
