Here's the scenerio:

XP is in screensaver mode (3d pipes). Most of the time it does OK, but then occasionally the screensaver becomes sluggish or even freezes. I press any key and then the entire screen goes blank. A window comes up and says: Out of Frequency on the top. On the bottom, I believe it said: Power save in 14 seconds. How do I prevent this from happening?

Any Help would be appreciated.

The best way would be to turn it off if you are not using it.

Since we don't know about your system then we can't decide if your system's hardware will support power options correctly. Use hardware manuals to see if your settings are correct in each of the settings here; screen saver, display properties, control panel and bios's power settings.

What information do you need to know?

All settings have been correct for the last 3 years, does this have anything to do with a wireless connection?

But like I said above, what information do you need?

There is an outside chance that the cmos battery that maintains your bios settings needs to be replaced. This is the small silver coloured disk battery that is attached somewhere on your motherboard. When this battery starts to go (3-5 year life expectancy) weirdo things begin to happen.
