I didn't believe it myself, BUT, I ordered one, got it in 3 days and it actually works just as well as a wired land phone. I have my wireless landphone plugged into the jack. The reception is really good and at $20 a year for unlimited calls to the USA and Canada, I'll be saving lots.

and NO....I don't work for them, I just thought it would be nice to pass out some good info to the members here. Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!

It should be mentioned that it needs a broadband connection to work so it appears it used the same principle as most VoIP adaptors.
I have a similar thing from British Telecom but not quite as small and only get free calls in the evenings and weekends.

"In addition to sales of the MagicJack hardware (and the $20 annual fee starting one year later), MagicJack intends to sell advertising that will appear next to the on-screen softphone any time you use the product. Indeed, as an article on the Broadband Reports site points out, MagicJack's Terms of Service document goes so far as to state that "these advertisements are necessary for the magicJack device to work."
Not to mention they have 40 Russian programmers working on it.
I used some of these deals before. They start out OK and slowly get worse. Only time will tell.I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Meet the inventor and founder of magicJack who is also an American entrepreneur and thoroughbred horse breeder/owner.
