If you love Wal-Mart, there is good news for you. Wal-Mart will start selling Dell Dimension E521 product line for now starting this weekend. Go there to touch & feel a Dell.

Latest Update: Wal-Mart said it won't be available until June 10th. That's better - you can go someplace else with your family/friends for the long Memorial Day weekend.

They seem to be blowin' out that Dimension E-521 with the AMD processor. A lot of their sales catalogs are also pushing that particular E-521... Maybe they have a ton of stock on it, lol...
Most people seem to prefer the E-520 with the Intel processor...

I have many clients that refuse to get any more Dell products because of their hard to understand tech support. Many have said they'll go back to Gateway, but it is a matter of preference I would say.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

FYI if you are a resident of New York State and you've got beefs about Dell's false advertising & deceptive service practices, misleading financing, & failing to honor rebates and warranties, don't despair. There is hope for you.

Early last week, the NY State Attorney General office has set up a Web site (CLICK ME) for consumers wishing to be part of a lawsuit.

I'll be damned; thank you for posting that... I wasn't aware of that suit.
If I didn't know any better, I'd be hoping that it might shake things up a bit in Round Rock, Texas. However, many of us know how Dell does things...so I won't get my hopes too high, lol.

I'm very happy with my Dell computers, but I am in complete agreement that Dell has some serious consumer relations problems, and that is compounded worse with the outsourcing of tech support. (other companies do that too though.. Not just Dell)

The Dell E521 seems comparable to my Compaq Presario SR1720NX. Dell offers the AMD CPUs with socket AM2 which provides support for DDR2 memory. My Compaq has a Sempron 3500+ which is socket 939 and uses DDR400 memory. One thing I don't haqve is a opening in the front of the case for a 3.5" floppy drive. Have had to make some adjustments to my computing due to the lack of a floppy. Dell offers this.

Compaq (HP) support is non-existant for me at this point. I called support after 20 days and was told that my 90 day warranty was expired. They offered to support me for $59 for 45 minutes. I declined.

Now I am considering adding a SATA HDD. My existing hard disk is PATA. I wish I had some support from Compaq. I have yet to find a Compaq website or forum where I can discuss my system.
