Comment:

I used the xp cd for the recovery console. I have the upgrade version so I had to select "New XP installation" to get into the recovery console. I am done with the console now and now, whenever i boot, the OS selection screen shows up asking me if i want to enter the XP setup. I tried going in the setup and selecting exti setup, but the problem is still there. Does anyone know how to get rid of the XP instalation selection on the OS select list?

[Boot Loader]
Timeout=5
Default=C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup"

should i just get rid of the line in the ""?

It should be safe to remove 'C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup"'

and were default is put 'multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS'

This is a sample of a default Boot.ini file from a Windows XP Professional computer.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
