OS not found! plz help!

I startup my notebook, and there is this black screen with the message "Operating System Not Found".
I checked the BIOS setting, and it detected and recognized my hard disk.
I've tried everything recommended on this thread, but nothing solved my problem.
Plz tell me what is the problem with my notebook and what to do about it. Any help is highly appreciated.
