os install with new mobo and cpu

OS: xp
CPU/Ram: celeron d 3.06ghz/ 1gb ra
Comment:

when trying to do a fresh install of xp on my new mobo and cpu it locks up on the screen with the choices to repair or install. is there an incompatability somwhere or am i missing somthing elese.

Well I always install XP to a Hard Drive.

What type of hard Drive are you using, if it is SATA it may requires SATA Drivers. If it is IDE is it recognised IN BIOS.

BTW did you benchtest prior to putting all components together ??

mb is a Gigbyte RZ series (model 8s661fxmp-rz) and my copy of xp is retail. drive is ide. all components are recognized in the bios. thanks to jessejames for the dry sacasm in these troubled times.
