Ordinal not found???

April 27, 2006 at 08:49:26
Specs: Win XP SP 1, P4 2.4Ghz
When trying to open Outlook, MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer, Word, etc. I receive the following message:

"The ordinal 233 could not be located in the dynamic link library SHDOCVW.dll"

I've read that it could be a certain virus affecting shdocvw.dll, however i've scanned the machine from another PC, and it is totally clean (the virus definitions ARE up-to-date). I've also tried to replace the shdocvw.dll file, but I continue to get the message.

Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on here?
Any help would be appreciated.

Virus and Spyware scans work better in Windows Safe-Mode.

See if this fixes anything--
Try System File Checker:
Open the Command Prompt, then type:

sfc /scannow

note space between the c and /
Have XP CD in your drive.

might want to get online and update your xp since its on sp1

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

I ran the System File Checker, and it resolved my problem. Thank you very much for the quick response.

Just wondering what would have caused this to happen though. It happened to two PCs in my organization. Yesterday they were fine, and today this issue started.

Thanks again everyone.
