I added a season of a TV show on a DVD and the episodes play out of order despite my setting each in order as well as renaming them so Windows XP wouldn't sort the order alphabetically or numerically. Problem I noticed is when it gets to 10, it sees that as 1 or 1b and it won't play 1-10 in sequence. It will play 1, then 10, then 2-9. WHat is the work around for this annoying flaw?

Also how does Windows add files when you select a group of files and drag them to their destination or folder?

Sometimes I notice if I highlight from the bottom of ther group the last file is highest up on the heirarchy. Makes no sense but this has confused me for years.

Name the 1-9 files 01-09, this will force it to play them first if its going alphabetically

When sorting files windows doesn't see numbers as numbers, but alphanumerics - ie part of the alphabet.

Hence the sort order is 1, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 18, 2, 20, etc.

I ususally use 001, 002, 003 - or whatever sequence is large enough to be sure of avoiding the problem; this case gives 999 numbers in sequence, for instance, but if you then used 1000, it woould apear right after 1 !

When you select a range and then drag them, eg in WMP, "pick up" the first in the range to get them in the correct order on arrival.

I thought Win XP does something funky with the short filename as I had this problem renaming music to play on a MP3 player in order. Example:

Black Sabbath - 01 - Neon Knights
Black Sabbath - 02 - CHildren of the Sea
Black Sabbath - 03 - Lady Evil
Black Sabbath - 04 - Heaven & Hell

etc.

According to XP after 4 consecutive filenames (this would read Black~01.mp3 in XP's non-DOS environment???) Xp makes random names for some strange reason.

I renamed each tv episode Curb001 , Curb002, Curb003 etc. Still burned them to DVD out of sequence for some strange reason. Im clueless now. HELP!

Does anyone know if this is a WIN XP problem or some bug in Nero Vision Express? I did burn one DVD successfully in the correct order, but it must have been a fluke as then next DVD I authored the same way outside of different files and such and it starts burning Curb005,Curb001,Curb003,Curb002,Curb004 (like it seems everything was purposely left out of order on this one...) It's still a mystery so any help outside of getting a new burning solution would help. Thanks.
