options in folders

when you right click in any folder you can "arrange icons by" name,size etc.
well when i do that in any of my mp3 folders nothing happens, ie cannot arrange then. burnt a cd last night and all the tracks were mixed up. any ideas.

Try going to View and set it to Details.

Arranging folder from Windows Explorer only effects the ways they are displayed. Nothing is changed on the disk so the files were burnt in the order they are stored on the disk.

If you want to have the files burnt is a particular order you need to do the sorting in the software you used to burn the disk.

still the same

"StuartS" thats what i had to do, a pain in the but. never had to do that before

if i have opened a folder with mp3's in it and they are mixed up (track numbers)i "arrange by track numbers" and they always arrange them selfs 1/20 or 20/1.
but now for some reason nothing moves, whatever i arrange or view by

Once you have sorted them into the order you want, rename them so the number format is looks this:

01
02
03
etc.

thanks for all replys.

"Wombat".........that jave me a clue to were the problem was
the tracks were taged artist>>track number>>title. so i went through each track and put the track number first. i think my brain musted have missed a beat
