I recently acquired a hand me down computer for a friend of mine. I am in the process of configuring it with Windows XP SP3 and I noticed that all options to turn on/off the Windows firewall are grayed out and inactive, even under the administrator account. The PC came from a business which employs it's own firewall; so, there was no need for Windows firewall. Is there a way to reenable the Windows firewall? Is it a registry setting? Thanks. P.S. The PC drive was wiped and the OS installed from a standard image at the business.

http://www.tweaking.com/ Download Windows Repair - All In One tool.
Start it, select Start Repairs tab far right. (It will want to create a restore point, let it)
In the list check mark
*Repair Windows Firewall
*Reset Registry Permissions
*Register System Files
