Hey, I a have a problem. Whenever I turn my computer on, "Operating System Not Found" always pops up on the boot sequence. After 15 minutes of trying to figure out what was wrong, it just boots into windows normally and everything works fine. I can even turn my computer off or restart my computer and it will boot into windows. If i turn it off that night and then turn it on in the mourning, the whole process will happen again. I have ran diagnostic test on the hard drive. Every test fails when I the "Operating System Not Found" screen pops up. Then when it boots to windows every test passes. I even formated my computer and it still does it. Please Help.

thanks clay

Happend to a friend of mine too. Could be the bios. Instead of using auto, use the correct config of your hard drive. Check and if needed, replace cables too. Seems to me that, some stuff aren't getting to where they suppose to go, ie, can't detect. or, it's seems that, your system just need to warm up, like my wife. LOL.

It's also possible that your hard drive is just about to quit. I'd recommend you to back up your files. If the BIOS has the "SMART" feature use it. SMART will tell you if your hard disk is faulty.

Yeah, must be a faulty hdd. Your dell probably only came with a 40gb, might as well replace with a larger one.
