Problem 1.

Windows XP Pro.

When any folder is double clicked, it opens it with the search window.
I think it happened somewhere between changing the icon for the folder to a custom.

----------------------

Right click any folder and menu shows then select:

"Open" It opened fine, but not anymore because I created "Open" in the file type (refer to photo) File Folder, because it did not exist, only "Find" existed, but I figure that "Find" is search.

(I cannot edit or delete "Find" or "Open") (see picture for clearer view) I created "Open" and switched the command to open with the program openfiles.exe(?no clue) in windows/system32 and set it to default so that "Find" would stop, but openfiles.exe doenst work it just pops up a command prompt in m second and closes.

I then created a NEW name "Open_It" (I cannot create another "Open", (cannot be identical, cannot delete existing "Open")

"Open_It" . It will open the folder by double click or right click and select "Open_It" (Command = Open with Iexplorer.exe, set to default)
It also opens subfolders in new window (I dont want) although under file types, radio button is selected for open each window in the same folder.

"Search" is default. it will search under right click menu (Right Click a folder and select "search")

----------------------

My Solution. ( It doesnt seem to be right, it's slower and opens subfolders in new window )

I created "Open_It" (under Folder Options - File Types - Select File Folder - Advance - New - Action (Name = Open_It - Application used to perform - Browse - Iexplore.exe) I gave it a command to open it with iexplorer.exe.

I tried to modify the "Open" from the registry (command = open with Iexplorer.exe -nohome) but only internet explorer opens blank.

I want to put everything to default. Delete "Open_It" and " and just use "Open" while double clicking a folder should open and Give it the right application and reuse windows. I'm not sure if Iexplore.exe is the right application to open any folders (My Pictures, My Music etc.) It seems slow and not right.

I've searched and found in the registry Registry: HkeyClassRoot - - - Directory - - Shell
I think I can delete them from there

Please Reply

Thanks.

Thanks Chuck 2: Solved / Easy :)

---------------
"To resolve this problem, edit the registry to set the value data for the Default string value in the registry keys that are described in the "Cause" section of this article to none:
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate and then click the Default value under the following keys in the registry if this problem occurs with folders:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell

If this problem occurs with drives:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell

Click Modify on the Edit menu.
Type none in the Value data box, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor."
