Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 3.093 GHz / 1023 MB
I recently had to reload windows XP after a crash. My problem is when I want a program to open with the open with, the program is not listed. When I brouse the files and find the .exe it still will not place it in the window. How can I fix this?

Now the program is Intervideo WinDVD 5, which now I cannot register as it is now not supported but works great.

Sorry, I guess I don't understand the program. It's called Old Man Symdrome!
Can't work it for fear of messing up more!

When you select 'Open With', browse to the file you want to open the file, select it and tick the 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' option.

FWIW to XP users: When you click on the 'Command Prompt' you are just causing the 'Command prompt' to be displayed. This prompt gives you access to NTVDM.EXE, the 'NT Virtual DOS Manager'.

May be that you could create your own Open With..., by adding entries into the Registry,
if you are brave enough ??, not me.
