Hi XpUser, google search brought me Hylafax which is too heavy for my simple job. It is for fax server. I ran it about 6~7 years ago on Linux. What I need is a simple fax software to send and receive fax via modem similar to Symantec WinFax which I ran several years ago before I migrated to Linux and Unix. B.R. satimis

Have you tried to use the Fax programme that comes with XP. When I used to do a bit of faxing that's what I used. Go to Control Panel / Add Or Remove Programs / Add Remove Windows Components / put a tick in Fax Services. Then set it up with your user details. It's easy to use as well...
