Help, please.
I have created a spreadsheet that deals with customer profitability that is place on our intranet. I have some supporting information in other files also posted on our intranet. In the spreadsheet, I would like to include links to the supporting information. Currently, when the user clicks on a link, they are prompted to save the information they have keyed into the spreadsheet before the sheet is closed to go to the link. I want the link to open a new window, so that the user can toggle between the two.
I saw this question was posed in December, but there was not a solution at that time.
Any new developments?Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Kelley

This would be better suited to the Office Software section, but anyway...
Are you using Excel? Cos I just tried linking to a HTML file, a DOC file and an XLS file, and all worked fine. They all opened in a new window.
Need more information.

Sorry, this is my first time on this site. Did not notice the Office Software option . . .
Yes I am using Excel.
My file is posted to our intranet as an Excel file (.xls) because it has macros that need to be able to run. When it is opened from our intranet, the links do not open a new window. The links are to other sites on our intranet.
When the user clicks on the links, they get a window that says "This document has been modified. Do you want to save changes?" with the options of Yes/No/Cancel. If the user chooses Yes or No, the file is exited, and the user is taken to the new site.
When a link is clicked, I do not want it to close the excel file. I would like it to open a new window.
When it is saved to my hard drive and opened from there, the links work fine - opening a new window.
Not sure what other information to include.
Thanks for your help.

I see what you mean now...
I tried inserting target=blank in the script in the xls file, but to no avail.
Though I'm sure there's some vbscript code that will open a link in a new window, I just don't know it.
Find the vbscript code for that and insert it:
Tools -> Macro -> Insert Script
(you may have to add this option to your Tools menu; search for "vbscript" in Excel Help)
