Okay this probably sounds kind of wierd but I have a friend who is having some computer problems. I have not worked on her computer first hand but i have looked up the problems she has told me. It seems she is connecting to the internet, but only IE actaully does anything and even then she says you can't really do much on the pages that it takes you to. That sounds like they are cached to me and thats why she can't do much with them. She can use things like Yahoo Messenger, but not things like mIRC, Firefox, or update her viruscan (AVG). This sounds to me like a firewall problem, but she says they are all turned off. She says that AVG used to update fine on that computer, and she has downloaded things and such on the computer before. I am kind of at a loss.

Have them run system restore. There is only one satisfying way to boot a computer.

I have had this problem. I could use my messangers, Yahoo and MSN, but IE, FireFox, and Netscape, the ones I use, wouldn't work. I am at a college, and the reason was that the connection went through an extra firewall and a bandwidth overload occured. I don't know if this is any help. George

She could render pages from cookies on her system while not connected to the internet.
