Hi,

I am using a recently bought D-Link router. It's a wireless DI-514.

I have a small net in my house: two desktop PCs and a laptop. The two desktops are hard wired to the router and the laptop via wireless connection.

One of my desktops started acting extremely slow when accessing other files of the network and it got also lazy in general (accessing the net, etc).

I switched the DI-514 for my old Laicom router for a test, and, presto, my desktop "came back to life". That means that possibly the router is to blame or some configuration on my desktop needs some change.

One of the weird things is that when I open the Network connections window sometimes there's a "Local connection or high speed internet" type connection called "local connection 6", for instance, along with a "Internet Gateway" called "Connection with the internet".

This seems to have happened again after I took my router to another place to use it temporarily with my friend's computer.

How do I fix that?

Thanks
