why is my mic so unresponsive when i am using onboard sound? i reinstalled my old sound card and suddenly its like 50 times more sensitive, any idea how i can improve the onboard sound mic? already tried using the motherboard drivers, updating the MB BIOS, double checking the plugs, and tried all the options to increase/boost the recorder level, but nothing has worked. o and the nroaml onboard sound is working fine and so is the onboard LAN, its just the mic that is having problems

Most microphone problems in any type of setup (computer or standard electronic) are caused by an impedance mismatch between the mike and the preamp input. Could be what's happening with your onboard mike.
But if you've updated all your drivers, I'm not sure where to take the issue.
No offense, but are you absolutely sure you haven't overlooked a driver?
