I recently had to reinstall Windows (don't ask), but now the NTFS security on my second drive is filled with extraneous SIDs. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to get rid of them?
I know you can 'Remove' them, but that means going into each folder and stopping it from inheriting permissions, then reapplying the permissions to everything in the folder.
I imagine there's got to be a better way. Is there?

Go into the permissions for the particular drive letter. Choose the Advanced button. On the Permissions tab is a check box to replace the child permissions. Set the gross permissions the way you want - at the least, make sure the Administrators group is there, with Full permissions. Do the same with the Owners tab. Once you have applied, then go into the individual folders and set a finer granularity as required.
You may have to do the Owner tab first.
Now if I could only figure out how to stop XP from constantly making/showing (in Explorer) my FAT32 folders as read only - even after changing the attributes via the commmand line. :(
