Old mapped drives

Is there a way that Windows remembers old mapped drives? I was looking for a drive that I had mapped about 2 months ago and cannot find it. (In a domain that has around 400 shared folders) Does Windows store the location in a temp file?

If it is saved it, it would show up in "My Network Neighborhood". And, it would be saved in the registry - not a temp file.

It will show up in "My network places" or as a network drive in "My Computer" if it was still mapped. What my question is, does Windows save the information about mapped drives that are no longer mapped?
