Hi, i have this old game, that runs best on win'98, and it doesn't work on Xp 'at all'. I contacted the manufacturers after not finding an Xp patch on their site and they basically told me to shove the game up my ass. So the question is, do i have any alternatives? I mean can one write an Xp patch on ones own? Please, I don't want to stick that big box up my ass.

Your best bet is to go to a forum for the game and see if anyone else is using it on xp successfully. They know the game very well and may give you some great advice. I did fix a game that would not work on xp, but it took me almost 6 months to figure it out. I noted that xp overwrote files with the same name even though they are in seperate folders. I compared files and then fixed the problem so check with your forum gamers.....

if all else fails i suppose you could go to google and type in the name of the game. If not... i usually never suggest this but look for a win98 emulator... i know its a long shot but alot of things changed when NTFS is king verus FAT system.... theres other methods if you still have Win98 cd find a partition splitter and put win98 on a diffrent partition, and create a dual booting system. if that doesnt work email me or post here the errors and the game title and i could make/find a fix and send it out too you Cheers

What game is it? If it’s not a major release or a game that's played buy recluses e.g. Civ or Transport Tycoon, then you are not going to get a patch. Put it this way, would you make one if you aren’t going to make any money out of it?

I made a patch for my game because I liked it that much. I did not care about the money. People dont pay money to get help here and we still help them dont we? Case Closed lol
