This question concerns a Internet issue.

My home page is Yahoo for both XPpro and 98se (partition).

After just checking both Windows versions for updates on the Internet I noticed that on each of my home pages they have a different format (look). How can this be? At first I thought maybe it was something as easy as just refreshing the page, but that didn't do any good. So then I did a full clean up on both Windows versions (including cleaning my prefetch in XPpro) and logged in again. This also came up as the same result!

If anyone know what is going on with two different formats for a Yahoo Internet page let me know.

Thanks

Hi sprank,

There are possible explanations for this, but I think this is what you're seeing:

A big site like Yahoo will have its portal-page on many "mirror-servers". These mirrors are exact copies, but they only synchronize once in a certain time-period. So, wait a few hours, and both portal-pages will be identical again, unless it's a temporary internet files caching problem - this would probably also solve itself after a bit of time.

You can also try this (but you don't know which page is newer, so try it for both):
whenever a site has more than one portal-server, clicking the website's link in "favorites" again will put you on a different server (I think that's called "round-robin", but I'm not sure), which may be synchronized enough to show the changed Yahoo-page.
