Office 97 / Windows XP. Each and every time that I choose [File] [Open], it takes 25 seconds to display the content of the data folder on the local drive. We have 3 Pentium IV's, XP Home, 128 to 384Mb RAM. These are networked (TCP, NetBeui, IPX. But even displaying the content of the local drive data folder takes ages.a

Make sure that there are no invalid drive mappings (Drives that are mapped to nonexistent servers)
Do you actually need IPX? If not disable or remove this protocol. We had a similar issue with IPX (Novell Servers) and office 97 under NT4.
