Off button on monitor stayed in. What to do

Specs: Windows XP
I turned off my monitor after turning off my pc at night. The next morning I wanted to put my pc and monitor on and noticed I could not put the monitor on because the button of on-off switch was in and unable to move. What can I do to use my desktop pc?

Remove all cables, especially the power cable from the monitor. Get yourself a can of WD40. Squirt a little around the switch. Go and do something else for an hour then come back and see if the button has freed itself. If it is still stuck, get a thin bladed knife and try and wiggle the switch out. If to comes out, squirt a little more WD40 around the switch, wiggle it about a bit then carry on with what you were doing before for another hour.

Once you are certain all the WD40 has evaporated, connect the cables and turn the monitor on.

Thanks for your help, but it did not work. It does move, but it must be broken because it does not go up and down. It stays in. I guess it calls for a new monitor. Thank you kindly. It comes from Dell.
