OEM is not a brand name. It stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer and is a term applied to hardware and software supplied in bulk to PC builders and the like.

Well it matters more to your motherboard, than to me or you, or anyone else's opinion.

Check with the manufacurer, and if you go with their wishes you probably won't go wrong.

Checked out Crucial.com ?

They offer good product/prices - I've heard no bad/adverse comments about them and their offerings (my own experience with them has been first class); and the tech suport seems to be on the ball. They have good on-line info too (in the FAQ section); sohuld answer most/all of your queries re' which to use?.

I have to interject.

The techs at Crucial are MORONS, at least the few I have had the misfortune of dealing with anyway.

The average Jr High age kid knows more about memory than the ones I got to talk to.

That is all....

Fair comment.

I guess it depends on who you get - and perhaps which area of the globe? My current experience is with Crucial in the UK; it was first class.

A bit like Dell perhaps? My UK-Dell experience (almost 3 years back) was lamentable overall (likwise my brother's - and he was using corporate support/service...); whereas my US dealings generally were pretty good - providing one persevered and (occasionally) perhaps called in a couple of times to recheck info/help when some of it seemed less that adequate; and/or one was lucky and got somebody who really knew what was what...

Sadly (based on comments here and elsewhere) US/Canada-Dell support seems to be going down hill, similarly UK-Dell; out-sourcing to "other parts of the world" is sometimes mooted as the main cause of this decline?

Lot to be said these days for local support?
