OE upgrade to Outlook problem

Microsoft XP
September 9, 2009 at 20:08:01
Specs: Windows XP
I have just upgraded to XP Students & Teachers version and when I click the Outlook icon which automatically appears on the desktop, it cannot find the files it needs in order to load and asks if I want to point to the default folder - if I say yes, it goes to the "A" drive on the PC and nothing happens. Does anyone know how I can get this to work or even how to get access to the previous Outlook Express which was on this machine?

Outlook is not an upgrade to Outlook Express. They are two different programs, and both can be run on the system.

Since outlook cannot find it's files, It would seem that it was not properly installed,

You 'should' be able to continue to use Outlook Express.

thanks for this but having installed the new software, it is only showing me the Outlook icon (and not the OE icon anywhere) Do you know the easiest way to find where OE has gone?

Go to c:\program files\outlook express. You 'should' see a msimn.exe file. Create a shortcut for it and paste it on the desktop or wherever you want.

Or, when prompted for the location of a pst file, create one wherever you wish to store it.

Then, run the Import wizard to import email, accounts, and address book from Outlook Express.
