I have a friend whose computer does not show OE as her default mailbox.
At the start button it shows MSN.
When attempting to install oe, the system says the latest version is already installed.
How do I locate oe on her system and how to make the system recognize it as the default mailbox?

Thanks

Start > All Programs > Outlook Express, click on it & it will ask if you want as default.

Hi countygeek, hello everyone,

Sounds like just the shortcut on the Start Menu is missing.

Right click on Start and select Properties.

Click on Customize.

Click on the General tab.

Under Show on Start Menu ensure there is a check next to Email. Select Outlook Express in the drop down menu.

To make it the Default in Internet Explorer click on Tools and Internet Options.

Select the Programs tab and in the drop down menu next to email select Outlook Express.

Best Regards and Wishes,

Open IE. Click on Tools - Internet Options - Programs and then set the Email Program, as per your requirement.

I believe you can get these same symptoms if you have OE installed, but it is disabled in Windows Components. It will be recognized as being "installed" but not be accessible until you go to:

Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > Add Windows Components > Select Outlook Express

and it should re-install it.

Let me know how it goes.

We tried Mesich's solution first and it did the trick.
After we set up her pop and mail server everything is just right!
Thanks again to everyone for your help! :) :)
