Hi all! Recently run into a strange problem whenever I install the program ConvertXtoDVD. I definitely need this program so I don't want to remove it.
Basically, part of the installation is creating the folder, "C:\Program Files\Common" as well as the actual installation folder ("C:\Program Files\ConvertXtoDVD"). This has one little file in which controls the preview window in the program.
But as long as this "Common" folder is in "Program Files", everytime I start the computer, it OPENS every time the computer starts - but what's worse is it stops OTHER startup components from working, especially connecting automatically to the internet, etc.
Obviously there must be way of going into the registry, or something, and stopping the computer from reacting to this folder everytime. I just don't know how! It isn't in the "Startup" folder and I'm not sure if "msconfig" would help.
Can any of you walking, talking brains give me some advice?
Thanks a lot, and all the best,
Mark

Pirate_LeChuck23, question is do you need it to start everytime? Right now, sounds like it is called during startup. You can control what starts with your machine.
If you don't always need it, remove it from the list. Perhaps a desktop shortcut would allow you access as you want/neeed it instead?

Hi Ed. You completely misunderstand me. It's not the program that starts everytime - I know how to control what programs open. What's strange is that this one folder, called "Common", opens on startup - and it stops other startup components from working. Therefore something is telling the computer to open this folder - not the actual program. Thanks for your response!

Mark, Go thru the threads at the link below where you should find the solution. Try the seventh link down from the top for a start.
