I am getting the following error when I select the display settings in the control panel: The currently selected graphic display driver can not be used. It was written for a previous version of windows and is no longer compatible with version of windows. The system has been started with the default VGA driver.
I have the latest Win XP Pro Nvidia drivers installed from the NVidia website. I even removed the old driver version first without success. Anyone have any ideas?

Then somewhere in the process, after rebooting a couple of times suddenly my nvidia-driven screen stayed black, and on clicking the 'settings' in disp. props, this message appears twice:
"Invalid Display Settings: the currently selected graphics display driver can not be used. it was written for a previous version of windows. the system has been started using the default vga driver. please .... blabla..."
