This morning I posted about having my computer screen going blank. After rebooting I just keep getting a message stating Corrupt or missing ntoskrnl.exe file. I downloaded the diagnostic disk for my hard drive (Western Digital) and ran it and found that the drive was bad. Fortunatly it is still under warranty and can be replaced. Unfortunatly it contained the operating system (no disks). My question is does Sony offer any replacement of operating system or thier loaded software? And is there any way to recover some photos on the drive and possibly the email addresses? I could attempt to fix the ntoskrnl problem but maybe with a damaged hard drive....it wouldn't work. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Linda

The operating system can be reloaded from the recovery CD you received when you purchased you pc/laptop by the lloks of it..
The fact that you did not get the disks is abit strange to say the least !!!
You should be able to recover your photos from the old drive, providing the primary partition on the hard d rive has not been deleted, and asuming the old d rive still runs..The sony service centre should be able to do this for you when they change the drives over...
