CPU/Ram: Pentium 4 512 ram
Product: Compaq Presario

My computer at home will not boot up. I keep getting the ntoskrnl.exe file is missing or corrupt. Please reinstall this file. Booting from CD won't work because it won't recognize the drive. Can't run restore either because it won't recognize the CD.

You said "won't work because it won't recognize the drive", have you checked your system's BIOS to make sure the optical drive is the primary boot device?
