Are you sure you didn't leave a diskette in the floppy drive?

Go into the bios and make sure the new hard drive is recognized as the maon drive on this pc. Then check that it is the drive called for in the boot order and not an old drive.

The drive reads as a 118 Gb hard drive and the boot order is set as

1: Cd-Rom
2: HDD-0 (First HD)
3: Floopy

I have done a repartision so it reads new (Raw) on the setup screen in XP but the problem remains

Once again, is this hard drive the only one plugged in? And is it listed as the FIRST hard drive under hard disk drives , then is it exact the drive listed in the boot order?
I am in the the Boot section of bios, not talking about listing of hard drives anywhere else.
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm

What has happened to me when changing the hard drive is that the bios still shows the old drive that was there, in spite of auto configure, so that the drive entered in boot order as hard drive 0 is the old one. if the drives are the same size it gets really tricky to see.
Also possible if there are 2 drives, and you have the old drive still hooked even as slave, XP could be trying to boot to it, but it is no longer the active drive.
I feel like we are missing something by error of ommission, something you failed to tell us.
