ntldr missing all the sudden

CPU/Ram: ibm thinkpad600

Today I turned laptop on, and get this message NTLDR missing, hit any key to continue, when I do that nothing happens.
I recently upgraded from ME.
Do i have to re-install xp?

Ummmm...yeah, or do a system restore via recovery console, did you make as system repair disk?

If WinXP will not start, it may be due to a damaged boot sector or a missing or corrupt ntldr or ntdetect.com files. To replace, access the recovery console and enter:
1. Copy X:\i386\NTLDR C: (X is your CD ROM drive letter)
2. Copy X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:

I had the same problem, the reason was, that Xp tried to load from a different disk (or partion).
Check Boot.ini
If your Xp is on HD1 Part.1 the numbers in () must be

0 0 0 1
