Hi all,
Have a problem with a machine running XP Pro SP1. A guy installed a 3G modem, rebooted, and started getting the NTLDR missing msg.
I tried running Recovery Console, fixboot, fixmbr, manual copy of NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM etc, my question is...
Would the fact that I'm using a SP2 disc to run recovery console mean that the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files I'm copying over are incompatible?
The only way I know the machine is XP PRO SP1, is that when I booted with ERD to see if I could access files, it could not attach to the OS and it was unsupported.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would do a format and manually backup/restore files, but there is software running on the PC which the user does not have CD's for. Thanks.

You can try these.
How to fix: NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart.

Avira AntiVir Rescue System

Nice link there cheers. Skeptical of these ISO boot fixes, as I've got burnt before. What exactly does it do?? From what i can gather it replaces system files and write a new bootsector, which I've done already. i'll give it a shot tho as I'm at my wits end. Will post results.
