when i start my computer back up i get the message "NDLTR is missing, Press ALT+CTRL+DEL to Restart". I have 2 hard drives (C:\ and F:\) i was cleaning up my C:\ hard drive and i erased some important files...i know that was dumb but i really need my computer restored again. Im good at computers but i'm a noob when i comes to fixing them. i have a boot disk that i made but i dont know how to use it...i also have a WINDOWS XP PRO cd, but i dont know the commands to get it to run from my D:\ drive.
i seriously need help and i need specific directions...plz plz help me out here.

Insert and boot from your Windows XP CD...
At the first R=Repair option...press the 'R' key...
Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the installation of Windows you want to repair...Typically this will be #1...
Enter in the administrator password when requested...
Enter in the following commands (X: is replaced by the actual drive letter that is assigned to the CD-Rom drive...
COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C:\
COPY X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:\Take out the CD-Rom and type exit...

boot off a floppy disc that loads your CD drive. then once at the DOS prompt, change to the CD drive, ie D:, type CD i386 and then run the file winnt.exe this should then run the Windows XP setup and repair your system or just do an 'over-the-top' install - repairing damaged files, while maintaining documents and other programs.

JTK's instructions will work just fine, however if you are not comfortable working in a command line environment you can also go to the second R=Repair occurrence, and ignore the first one. The second repair does everything automatically. It takes quite a bit longer as it goes through the motions of a complete install, but you won't have to mess with command line and every thing will be just as you left it when you get back in (except that NTLDR will be back where it belongs).

ok...when i type D:\ or D:...it says invalid drive specification...i tried my other CD-ROM which was E:\ and it still said the same thing...unless im trying to boot my WINDOWS PRO CD wrong, i think i really messed up here...my OS is on my F:\ and i know it works fine but my C:\ was just another hard drive without a OS that i used to store videos and stuff...i have another computer just to let u know incase that could help me
