i am going nuts here, i tried to connect a PCI wireless card, but the system tottally locked up on startup, no disk access, total lock up. so i removed the card, now when i start up i get 'NTLDR is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart', needless to say ctrl+alt+del just gets thesame message again. i can boot from the windows CD, but not from the hard drive. i have tried copying boot.ini files, and many other NTLDR files, i have even formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows as a last resort, and still the message remains. the bios settingslook ok on my card (QDI legend kinetiz 7b) but i fear the bios may be fried. any ideas would be gratefully recieved before it all goes out the window.
thanks in advance. Duncan

Try fixmbr from the recovery console.
Or try a low level format of the drive to clear the boot partition of the drive???
Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

thanks Clive,
i have tried the fixmbr with nojoy, i havenottried a lowlevel format as i was tryingto aviod that, but we will see. thanks

The following worked for me:
1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
3.Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and press enter.
5. You will then be prompted for your admin password, enter it
6. Copy the below 2 files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E. This letter may be different on your computer.copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
7. Once both files have been copied, remove CD and reboot.
Good Luck!
