NTLDR is missing, found again, but won't

Okay. Let's start with what happened before.
I received a Unmountable Boot Volume error using Windows XP. After fixing it using fixboot, it gave me an NTLDR is missing error. I go get the CD, and try copying the two files needed (NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM). NTDETECT.COM copies fine, but NTLDR does not.
I'd follow the advice in this article: http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm If you aren't successful copying it with the commands shown there, your best bet might be to reinstall XP over itself as that site also describes.

I had the same too. Had to re-install XP. Then copy the missing file onto floppy, in case it happens again. Which it did. So co-py back again from the floppy worked the next time.
I wonder if Microsoft know this. They don't really know much about Windows, I've found in the last several years.
