I have an NTL account which I can't dial up with Win XP Pro. I've tried it with and without the gearbox software installed (ie with and without manual dial-up connection). With the software installed I can dial up and reinstall (register) my account with no problems but once that's done I can't dial up the normal 0800 number. I've looked through all their help pages and followed their instructions to the letter with no joy and I've been in contact with their technical support, whose only support was to tell me to check the 'help' pages!!. They've also said that although their website doesn't say it, NTL does support XP Pro. I've tried everything and I still can't connect. With a manual connection, I get nothing at all. No dial-up, no 'squeal' from the modem...nothing. I know there's nothing wrong with my modem or phone line or PC as I can connect with no problems via another ISP (a free trial that runs out soon!!).
Can anyone help me before I tear my hair out please?!
