hey - ive been trying to install xp, and about half way through the install i get a system crash and a blue screen informing me about an ntfs error. i tried diff xp cds - no luck. i bought a new hd - no luck. i tried stripping the peripherals - no luck. any ideas? my ststem specs are as follows:
wd 120gb special edition
2 x 512mb hyperxddr400
intel D875PBZLK mobo - v.6 bios
radeon 9800 pro
audigy 2 platinum
any ideas? i think it might be the bios but i dont know if i can/how to downflash...

I had the same problem when building a PC, I asked around to no avail, so I just installed it on a Fat32 format HD. Not the answer you wanted Im sure, but you werent the only one!

I think the first responder may be right. Delete and re-create the partition during setup, prior to installing the OS. Format the partition using FAT32, then go on installing the OS as normal. AFter the entire OS install is done, and you've downloaded and installed all the updates, you can convert your OS to NTFS from the command prompt by typing:
Convert c: /fs:ntfs
This process will initiate the conversion your Hard drive's file system to change over to NTFS the next time you reboot. CAUTION: This is a one-way process and CANNOT be reversed, so be sure that this is what you want to do!
Good luck!
Cheers,
Brian G.
