Comment: Will windows XP professional load on a HD that is set up FAT 32, or will it have to be NTFS. If it has to be NTFS then will XP detect that the HD is not NTFS and then convert it over to NTSF. I am trying to set up a dual boot system with XP nd ME.

Reply: (edit)If you are setting up a dual boot system with a 9x/Me based operating system, go with FAT32. Windows Me cannot see NTFS partitions and that will screw you up in the long run.

Reply: (edit)My question is......I have installed XP Pro just to get familiar with the system. Working on MCSE in 2k so I am familiar with NTFS but was wondering if anyone knew if when you install XP Pro, and its on a FAT partition, and you convert to NTFS, will you have the NTFS security tab for the NTFS permissions? Because when I did it, I didn't have the security tab option like I normally would in 2000. Also, can XP Home be converted to NTFS?
