I put my HD from my XP computer into my girlfreinds computer running 98 so I could scan it for possible sasser virus. Problem is my HD doesnt show up in windows explorer on her computer although it does show up in System in Control Panel. Is it because its an NTSF format drive?

Yes, Windows 98 will not read an NTFS partition.

If you want to scan for a virus, put it back in your PC, connect to the web and follow this link.

thats the problem though. I can't boot from my computer. Thats why I put the drive in the other computer : to scan it there to see if it is infected and stopping me from booting.

The lowest O/S to see an NTFS partition is NT4.

The only way to see it now, is to upgrade your girlfriends PC to XP.

There are many freeware programs that lets 98 & 95 read NTFS go here for one:

Also here is what I found in a google search:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=NTFS+%26+windows+98

Good Luck

Another source for an ntfs util (that allows '9x to read etc. ntfs):

http://www.ntfs.com

specifically:

http://www.ntfs.com/products.htm

and download ntfs reader util.

When you say you can't boot to XP (with drive in its own PC), what error message(s) are you getting?
