I am trying to convert my xp drive to ntfs. What is a mystery to me is how to get get the chunk size to 4mb.Everything I have read says fat32 will convert, but with a 512mb chunk.I dont want to bother if converting will slow me down to a crawl.Any ideas would be appreciated, and I dont really want to spend a bunch O'money on 3rd party software.

depending on what you do, there may be no need to go NTFS..

unless your mainly going to have text documents on your harddrive, i don't recommend using 4k cluster size. 4k is good for efficiency, but worse for performance. the larger the cluster size, the better the performance and the worse the efficiency (in terms of disk space).

You can only get the 4k cluster size if you format to NTFS before install. Conversion from FAT32 gives the bigger cluster size.
