Upon start-up, I keep getting this message:

"NT On-Access Scanner service. has encountered a problem and needs to close. We're sorry for the inconvenience" and the option to Send or not Send a report to Microsoft.

My PC just "hangs" for a good 4 or 5 minutes upon start-up. My Desktop will just be there with the hour glass, not allowing me to do anything until the hour glass goes away. The clock even stops at the bottom-right corner, then displays the correct time when the hour glass is gone.

I can't send an "error report" to Microsoft as it suggests to do, since I'm not yet on-line when I get the "NT On-Access" message.

Any ideas???

Thanks,

Dr.

Yes, I do have/use McAfee, but also have all the others... Norton, Symantic, Microsoft, etc. Should I remove McAfee? One of the files on the Error Report is: ..\Temp\WERa545.dir00\McShield.exe.mdmp

Is "McShield" part of McAfee?

Thanks!
