Comment:

First of I have the operating systems cd, Drivers, Utilities,& Applications cd, and other Applications cd that where on my comp. already. After the frustration of trying to reformatt the hard drive of my "new"(used) laptop in an act of desperation I eraced and uninstalled every file and program I could thinking that I could re-install from scratch. It didnt work like that. Now windows XP wont startup and after I tried to reinstall it it showed on a black screen... "Which windows xp would you like to load"... In which none of even work... When I try to reinstall my driver and utilities cd from power up it sends me to a diegnostics menue. I now have 2 problems... I just want to use my new toy. Can someone help!!!!???

Dell Inspiron 1100... used but new to you... Did it come to you with Dell provided recovery CDs, or with a full version of the OS cd?

If the recovery cd then perhaps visit Dell site for how to use the recovery cd routine(s). If the latter (full version) then you "should" (the dreaded S word again...) be able either to run a fresh installation, or to possibly repair the current version...?

A kwik search at the Dell site for:

Inspiron 1100

will bring you a wide range of responses. Browse amongs them and there's much that may help you...

Call Dell Support and they would help you, even though if you don't have a warranty for it.
