Comment:

I am trying to install the software which is on DVD-R cd
on my laptop and when I insert it, it does not start
automatically, I tried to go to My Computer to start it from
there, but I can not find it there. I tried the same CD on
my MAC and it works there. I also tried different CDs on
PC to check if there is something wrong with it but it
works with other cds. What could be wrong?

Thanks.

Is the software in question supposedly compatible with the PC platform?

Is it a DVD or a CD? Is your drive a DVD ROM drive or just a CD drive?

What does My Computer show as far as what's in the drive?

The specs on the laptop stae is has a DVDrom/. Link below to specs. Was the DVDR created on a PC or not. Try right clicking the drive icon an choose explore. See if a folder them opens with a list of files.

(edit)

I just read the detailed specs on your DVD rom. It is not capable of reading DVDR. You are out of luck.

I think the disc is DVD-RW. If my PC can read DVDR, can I
copy the files on blank DVDR disc by using my PowerBookG4
since this one reads the disk I have problem with?

Thanks.

Your Drive can't read any home burned DVD media at all. Can only read factory made DVD. I posted the link read it.

Thanks OterHill,
but I have used home burned DVD before and had no
problem. I think the problem might be reading DVD-RW.
Anyway I will try to convert it to DVDR and see what happens.

Well write once CD or DVD media is always more compatible. I never use any RW media. Good luck with that.
