Not enough memory for installation?

I have a brand new vaio with a 40gig Hard drive and 256ram. However, when I try to install a program that I downloaded I get nothing. I tried installing it from my control prompt and it said there was not enough memory to install. I've read that this is usually due to a full harddrive, but I've got plenty of gigs left. I've also tried to adjust my virtual memory, but still failed. Also tried redownloading. Any help out there?

Did you redownload the same file? Something could be corrupt and when you are redownloading the file you are ending up with the same problem. If you are you Kazaa (or a program like this) try downloading another file with a different size.
