not accessible file

March 12, 2009 at 09:41:35
Specs: Windows XP
I was just going to open a file that set up last night, then some window came up, don't know what happened. I know I didn't delete for sure. Before I know it, the file is no longer where I saved it.

Initially it was under c:\data

After doing a search, I found the file created under:

c:\6d5c473b1cf2675e29887cb87beda\data\...

It's saved under the same file name but I don't know what that number string is.

When I try to open the file, it says:

that particular file is :not accessible."

"Access is denied."

Can somebody tell me what happened and how I can open my file?

Did you give the file a name before saving it? Are you logged into the same profile as when you created the file?

If you haven't emptied your recycle bin the file should still be in there, if it wasn't too large for the recycle bin. Right click on the recycle bin and choose explore to view the contents.

Yes I was in the same profile, and yes, the file was already saved. I named it last night. I was just trying to open it again to work on it. Then something happened and I can't access it now.

I went to the recycling bin as suggested but the file is not there. I know I did not press delete, or didn't even press OK when a window popped up. Unfortunately, I didn't even read the window message. I just pressed CANCEL.

Then the file disappeared from where it originally was and created a different file folder with all the number string.

I tried it again and I still can't access it.

Any other suggestions? I would be very grateful. It's my tax file and I put in a lot of work on it and now I can't access it. :(
