I installed Norton SystemWorks 2002 expressly for the Norton Utilities part of the suite, but for some reason or another I cannot access that part of the suite after I installed it. I am replacing the 2001 version because I upgraded my WinME to WinXP and the 2001 version is not compatible. I then installed a version of Norton Utilities to try to rectify this problem, but the version turned out to be the 2001 version. I tried to uninstall it, but it says: "Unable to locate the installation log file 'C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton Utilities\Uninst.isu'. Uninstallation will not continue." I have a hunch that Norton Utilities is not accessable because the version that is installed is 2001 so the new version will not install over it. If some one has any suggestions on either uninstalling the old version of Utilities or making the new version of Utilities accessible without running it from CD I would really appreciate it.

sorry to bust the bubble here but you just spent good money for a suite of stuff and useless programs you can do yourself : like defrag, clear cookies, clear temp files, run diskchecks, etc etc. i have been harping about these so called utility suites for awhile in this forum. as you have found out all they do half the time is mess things up more than anything else. windows has all the tools you need for normal use built in!!!! why people keep reasoning they need some 3rd party program to do a 10 minute weekly cleanup on their own is beyond me. people see this post and learn: DONT bog down your machines with these suites. run norton anti virus because its the best..ok but nothing else from norton or anybody else. read and learn folks

Go to the Symantec Website and use search to obtain SYMCLEAN to get rid of the old version of System Works. You can then install the new version. Please be advised that System Works can cause many more problems that it can solve. If you have used it and like it then I will not argue with you. Symantec does have a great refund policy, and you can get a refund at the same website. All the best!

Hi, Here is what I had to do once in order to get Norton System Works installed. First, go to symantec.com and download and run the application remover programs they have there. Once done, you can try to load 2002, but that did not work for me. If it works for you, then good. If it doesn't, then you could try the following. Run the removal applications again. Reboot your machine. Perform a files and folders search on anything with the word Norton in it. Delete what you find. Reboot again. Then perform a files and folders search on anything with the name Symantec in it. Delete what you find. Reboot and try to load the software again. Its a pain in the butt, but thats what worked for me. Good Luck!

I downloaded SYMCLEAN and successfully uninstalled the old version of Utilities. I then installed the new version and it's working perfectly. Thanks for your help! =-)
